| Kiwanis
is a world-wide organization that is dedicated to
changing the world one child and one community at a time.
It sounds like a big organization doesn’t it? Well it is,
but it
is also at the local level helping the kids right here in our
community every day with the many different projects that
we do here in the Meridian-Kent Kiwanis Club. We are
making a difference out there in the world. We are also
having fun doing it and making new friends along the way.
Sometimes it is hard to explain to someone all the projects
that we do, but we are a group of business owners and
employees from many different businesses that have come
together to join a club to volunteer to make the world a
better place.
We at the Meridian-Kent Kiwanis Club
have had a
wonderful year helping out in our community through the
following projects:
· Reading programs at Meadow Ridge Elementary.
· Working at the Kent Food Bank.
· Giving kids that might go without a Christmas season our
Kids Christmas Party with Santa.
· Giving the disabled a chance to try out new sports with
our Adaptive Sports Jamboree of Washington.
· Giving the needy food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
· Turn working and parking cars at Pacific Raceways as a
fundraiser
· Running a Casino Night once a year as our major fundraiser
for the year
This
year on October 14th, we are partnering with The
Pediatric Interim Care Center (P.I.C.C) to raise money for
their needs.
The list continues of all the good that we have done this
year.
We cannot do all of this without members.
We have an
outstanding group of folks that get together on a weekly
basis and have lunch and listen to someone come in and
give us a talk about something interesting. If this sounds
like something you would like to do, come on down on
Wednesdays and meet a new friend and help out our
community.
In closing, I want to say that it has
been an honor to serve
as President of this fine organization this past year. Thank
you all for making this a wonderful year.
Sincerely,
Craig Koester
Meridian-Kent Kiwanis
President
